Hello! I’m Denise.

I have loved sketching and painting for as long as I can remember.

In South Africa, I joined an art group to further develop my skill, and become immersed in an art community. We opened a community gallery where I was successful in selling my art.

In 2023 I was accepted onto the prestigious classical portrait course at the Angel Academy in Florence, Italy, where I learned from world-class classical artists.

I am inspired by the play of light on objects, especially from travelling in Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia.

Every painting is a series of decisions I make during the process. I believe a painting has a life of its own; a conversation and a feeling that happens between myself and the painting. 

I am constantly learning and growing as an artist in my studio on the Greek island of Poros. 

My studio practice uses oil paints on canvas as a means to explore human emotion and beauty.
